I'm CF because I'd make a lousy parent. Not only am I incredibly impatient, especially when having to teach someone something, but I'm rude, loud and I have a foul mouth and couldn't care less who I offend with it. I'm a piss poor example of what good little boys and girls grow up to be.
I don't hate kids, per se, and I am an aunt of 3 nephews, 2 of which I adore (hey, the other is still tiny and nonverbal, ask me again when he's around 2 or so) but even them I can only take in very small doses. Occasionally I have my older nephew (7) over for the day or to spend the night and usually about halfway through the visit I'm ready for him to go home.
I'm the mean lady in the store who will give your kids stink eye if they start squalling. I can't stand snotty, crying, whining kids. The fact that I can't stand to deal with people shit, snot and vomit probably has loads to do with my decision as well.
I lack nearly any sort of maternal instinct unless we're talking maternal for critters, in which case I have instinct in abundance. I love animals, all of them and DH and I have a slew of them. He's also adamantly CF and beyond thrilled to have married a woman who's equally against the idea of procreation within our family. All the animals are fixed (except the reptiles) and in the next few months DH will get fixed too. |

I enjoy being around my nephews, but that is likely more to do with the fact that I grew up surrounded by females, and find the behavior of male children to be fascinating to watch... *frogs & snails* indeed! lol |

I already have to share a large portion of it with a government that does NOT represent me in any way, shape, or form. I don't want to give the rest of it to one of those snot nosed little brats.
All that aside, why should I provide another slave for the corporate fascist state to bleed dry and trample into submission? |

My maternal instincts are now completely gone, and once again i thank God i'm childfree. I love my nieces and nephews with a passion, but i don't like other peoples kids......at all. I have 3 cats and thats what i am blessed with. by the way...i'm not religious. (off topic)(sorry) |

I am scared of having kids that behave like my sister. |

| Sponsor | digits | Nov 27, 2005 8:39am | Good question but odd for me to answer. For me the question is not so much "Why did you not have children?" but should be geared more to the one's who did in form of "Why did you?!"
I do not understand the need to have someone love me I birthed.
I do not believe in ego-driven "immortality".
They are NOT bundles of joy when they learn to speak.
I do not need to have a child in order to learn to love.
I do not need to trap a man to insure he stays with me.
I don't need welfare.
It's not a symbol of my womanhood.
So now....why would I?
In a few years, 4th and I have discussed the possibility...we've also discussed adoption. If we were to have a child it'd be to make him our slave when we're old and feeble. But really, by then I think maybe I'd be bored with life and we might need something to keep us interested in getting up in the morning - for entertainment purposes I suppose. But like I said...that'd be in a few years and in direct proportion to how bored I would currently be. But maybe not. |

| NexStitch | Jul 11, 2006 12:43pm | I'm not having children because:
1) I don't want to get fat
2) I'm too selfish. I want to do what I want, when I want
3) I don't have the energy for it
4) I despise crying and wailing and pouting and temper tantrums
5) There's no way I'm going to work all day with children to come home and deal with them when I get there too.
6) I run a small business on the side and my fiance runs a recording studio from our house. There's just no room for another person in this house.
7) And probably the most important thing I've recognized about myself is that I'm a plant killer. How would having children be any different?
You couldn't PAY me to have a child. And I'm lucky because my fiance doesn't want any either. THANK GOD. |

I could never find a single reason for myself to have a child (thank God!), so I will remain happily child-free. |
